Toronto Media Flock to Machel Montano Concert Launch

Media personnel from various arms of the industry in Toronto flocked to a big launch last Wednesday night, of an event featuring leading Caribbean entertainer Machel Montano on March 26..
Montano, the planet’s premier Soca artiste, is being heavily advertised for a concert titled ‘Fire Fete’ and carded to come off on Easter weekend at the Kool Haus, 132 Queens Quay East in downtown Toronto.
The media launch which also introduced J.V.R. Entertainment, organisers of the “Fire Fete’, had the venue – The Silk Lounge on 225 Richmond Street West - bursting at its seams.

Representatives from TV houses -Toronto 1 (Channel 15), CITY TV (Channel 7), Much Music; MTV Canada, Caribbean Vibrations; Masala TV; Music Flava (CHEX TV), Radio – FLOW 93.5 F.M., 740 A.M. 77O A.M. CMR 101.3 F.M. CKLN 88.1 F.M., CHIN 1540 A.M. & 100.7 F.M., CIUT 89.5 F.M.; newspapers – The Pride, Canada Extra and The Caribbean Camera, magazines - Urban Music; Source; XXL; Niche Urban; Flava; WORD; Hip Hop Canada and several others were among the flood of the Toronto media fraternity who showed up.
Machel was not present, but J.V.R. Entertainment President/CEO John Breau told the gathering they will be startled by what will transpire at the March 26 th concert.
Breau, a top Canadian business magnate who owns a conglomerate of firms, said his company “wants to put a fresh and professional stamp on the entertainment business in the Caribbean market”.
“I’ve been to Jamaica several times and I’m looking forward to going to Trinidad soon. I will even learn to wine and have me a great time when I get to Trinidad,” he mused to the delight of the full-house turnout.
Machel’s image was being beamed up on a huge screen at the venue. Later media reps congregated in the area where an Machel Montano EPK (Electronic Press Kit) was being displayed on the screen. The Soca wonderboy’s music piped through the Silk Lounge all night while non-Caribbean members of the Canadian business community mixed and mingled with media personnel present.
The ‘Fire Fete’ featuring Machel Montano & Xtatik will be hosted by U.S. rap music pioneer Doug E. Fresh and New York based Trinidadian broadcaster Ian ‘D Goose’ Eligon. Being put on by J.V.R. Entertainment and sponsored by Roots Canada and IBC (Integrated Business Concepts), the concert is receiving tremendous hype across the GTA (Greater Toronto Area).
